Background
In Matthew 24:6–7, Jesus says that we will hear of wars and threats of wars; that nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. He also says that we shouldn’t panic because these things must take place before the end. Even now as this study is being written, Russia is at war with Ukraine. Nations have been at war since the beginning of time, and nations will continue to be at war until Christ returns to reign on earth during the Millennial Kingdom.
In Daniel 11, Gabriel again appears to Daniel with more disturbing news about the future of Israel and their indirect involvement in wars to come. Here we get a detailed account of almost 200 years of fighting between the kings of the north (Syria) and the kings of the south (Egypt). The territory caught in the middle of these two warring nations is Israel.
