Dear God:

I thank You for giving up Your only Son to die for me on the cross. I thank You because You had mercy on me, even with my faults and sins. I thank You for Your infinite love and sacrifice. You have bestowed undeserved grace upon us by giving us the best gift we could ever receive: salvation. May my life be a vessel of blessing for more people to know Your love.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Memory Verse

“Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.’ And the soldiers gambled for [H]is clothes by throwing dice.”
Luke 23:34, NLT

Background

Jesus’ death and resurrection are the climactic events of His ministry, and therefore of Luke’s Gospel. In chapters 22–23, Luke depicts Jesus’ betrayal, arrest, trials, crucifixion, and death. These Scriptures take us into the saddest days of history. With Judas’ help, the nation’s leaders completed their plot to kill the Son of God. But these days are also the greatest days on earth for Jesus. He has accomplished His life mission and confirmed to the Twelve that they will carry on His global mission.
