2 Thessalonians 1–2:12

Background:

The Thessalonian believers continue to face persecution and false teaching as they grow stronger in their faith. They had been receiving letters saying that the day of the Lord had already come, so Paul wrote his second letter to the Thessalonians not only to encourage them in their faith, but also to set the record straight regarding future end times events. He focuses much of his letter on a future mystery of lawlessness that had already begun but would not be fully revealed until the appointed time.

Memory Verse:

“When He comes on that day, He will receive glory from His holy people—praise from all who believe. And this includes you, for you believed what we told you about Him.” (2 Thessalonians 1:10, NLT)

Reflection:

How has Paul’s practical, instructive advice in 1 Thessalonians 5:12–22 impacted your life this week?
