Lord:

Thank You for being wiser and stronger than any wisdom or strength in this world. I praise You and thank You for giving me the Holy Spirit to help discern true wisdom. Help me to rely not on myself or any teacher that I may follow, but on You and You alone. I strive to become more like You, and I need help every step of the way. Lord, help me to grow in Your Word; I want to eat solid food and move on from milk. I love You and praise You.

Background

Paul has just finished addressing the importance of leaning on the Holy Spirit to discern God’s true wisdom. Now in chapter 3, Paul confronts the Corinthians about their lack of maturity in their faith—they are acting in foolishness, not wisdom. In chapter 4, he tells them what it looks like to live as mature believers with wisdom.
