1 Thessalonians 4:13–18

Background:

Few biblical topics can start heated debates as quickly as this short passage of Scripture. Many who agree on the details of the event will hotly argue the timing. This lesson was prepared based on the Pre-Millennial Dispensational theological viewpoint. Volumes have been written to clarify what this means, but a short explanation includes the belief that the Church and Israel are separate entities, with some promises intended for the Church alone and some for Israel alone. The Pre-Millennial view holds the belief that Christ will return for His Church before the Tribulation, and after the Tribulation Christ will literally reign on earth for 1,000 years.

Memory Verse:

“For the Lord Himself will descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16, NASB)

Reflection:

How have you practiced “standing firm” in your faith this week?
