Jonah 1:1-4:11

Background:

God called Jonah to get up and go announce His judgment to Nineveh, which was about 500 miles away. So, Jonah got up and went….to Tarshish, a city about 2,000 miles in the opposite direction. Jonah foolishly thought he could run away from God and His divine mission, but he soon learned there would be consequences for his disobedience. Jonah was a prideful, narrow-minded, defiant prophet who needed a lesson in God’s authority.

Memory Verse:

“But I will offer sacrifices to you with songs of praise, and I will fulfill all my vows. For my salvation comes from the Lord alone.” (Jonah 2:9, NLT)

Reflection:

In what areas in your life is God asking you to trust Him more?
