Background

Daniel’s vision in chapter 8 concerns the kingdoms of Medo-Persia and Greece leading up to End Times. The vision also introduces us to a type of world dictator who is yet to come: the Antichrist. God’s people are encouraged by this vision to remain faithful in the face of persecution and through the rise and fall of the kingdoms of this earth.

This vision takes place before the events in chapter 5, about 12 years before Belshazzar held the feast where he saw the writing on the wall. Daniel was in his early sixties.

Memory Verse

“Then he said, ‘I am here to tell you what will happen later in the time of wrath. What you have seen pertains to the very end of time.’” (Daniel 8:19, NLT)
