1 Thessalonians 1-2

Background:

This book, written by Paul, is filled with both encouragement and instruction for the new believers that had recently formed the church in Thessalonica. Notice as you read this book how Paul instructs them as a loving parent would train up a child. His words are filled with grace, compassion, and guidance while always pointing to the hope and promises that are found in salvation through Christ alone. We, too, have so much to learn and apply from this letter penned long ago.

Memory Verse:

“For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the Word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the Word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe.” (1 Thessalonians 2:13, NASB)

Reflection:

Who and what helped you grow in the knowledge of the Lord when you were once a new believer?
