As we will see in the course of this study, God’s plans do not often look like the plans of man. We will follow the happenings in a small, insignificant village in the land of Judah where two destitute widows come in hope of protection. We will meet a man who seeks to pour out the covenant love of God, and all of this is set against the backdrop of one of the darkest periods of Israel’s history. Here in a setting and cast of characters that seem insignificant in the eyes of mortal man, God will plant in the House of Bread, the seed that will eventually become the royal line of David and the redemptive line of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life.
