Background:

As loneliness and isolation are increasingly common in our Western culture, it seems as if friendship is a dying art. Today, on average, fewer people live in each home, and they eat more meals alone and say they have fewer friends and family members with whom they can talk honestly. However, the Church offers us the opportunity for community, and the Bible teaches us much about holy relationships, which can help us become loyal and contented friends.

Memory Verse:

“‘For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,’ says the LORD, who has compassion on you.” (Isaiah 54:10, ESV)

Reflection:

Reflect on the many instances of Nehemiah seeking God as he carried out his plans. How did God respond to Nehemiah’s prayers?
