Revelation 5:1–14

Memory Verse:

In a loud voice they sang: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” (Revelation 5:12, NIV)

Background:

In Revelation 5, the apostle John continues to record the scene in heaven. As God sits majestically on His throne, the 4 living creatures and the 24 elders surround Him in concentric circles, worshipping Him for His worthiness as the Creator. Jesus is introduced as the slain Lamb Who has conquered satan and is the only One in heaven and on earth worthy to open the scroll which contains God’s plan of salvation for His people and punishment for the unrighteous. Untouched by sin and perfectly obedient to the Father, He alone can approach God’s throne and open the seals of judgment.
