Background

Scholars think 20–30 years have transpired since the golden image and the fiery furnace. The king is enjoying building the great and beautiful city of Babylon, and times are peaceful and prosperous. King Nebuchadnezzar had at times shown respect for Daniel’s God and even given Him praise (Daniel 2:47; 3:28–29), but he did not have a transformed heart. The king still practiced polytheism and had added Daniel’s God to the list of gods he already worshipped. That is all about to change.

Memory Verse

“Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and glorify and honor the King of heaven. All His acts are just and true, and He is able to humble the proud.” (Daniel 4:37, NLT)
