Father:

I have been guilty of overlooking this little book in the past, but open my eyes to see the richness of Jude. Allow me to take the warnings of false teachers seriously, and help me to be wise and discerning when it comes to all I see, hear, and read regarding my faith and Your Word. I am so thankful to be known by You, my sovereign Lord.

In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen

Memory Verse

“Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.”
Jude 21, ESV

Background

Although written by a different author, the theme of Jude aligns seamlessly with Galatians. False teachings were creeping into the lives of believers, and Jude was compelled to address this issue. Although it appears he originally intended to write on the theme of salvation, Jude quickly shifted gears and wrote an urgent letter filled with both warnings of the false teachers and reminders of the true faith and Gospel.

It is Jude who inspired the title of this study as he encouraged believers to contend for the faith. Nothing is new under the sun; today we must choose to contend for the true gospel message just as believers in the first century had to do.
