Background:
Repeatedly God tells His people to “trust Me.” In this section of Isaiah, we will look at this concept of trust. God uses four names to get their attention. Isaiah’s name means “Jehovah is salvation,” an apt name for one bearing this message. Isaiah’s sons are both an object lesson and message: Shear-jashub—“a remnant will return” and Maher-shalal-has-baz—“swift the spoils of war and speedy the attacker.” And Immanuel—“God is with you.” God is clearly asking, “You are My people; will you trust Me?” The same question we should ask ourselves today, “Am I trusting God?”
