The apostle Paul returns to the question of Romans 6:15: Shall we continue to sin while under grace? His resounding answer is—no! Now he illustrates his negative answer, using the familiar topic of marriage. Marriage is lifelong, but if one partner dies, the other is no longer bound by law and is free to marry someone else. Paul was telling Jews that they had died to the judgment of the Mosaic Law and were free to enjoy a new relationship of grace through faith in Jesus Christ. However, this freedom did not mean freedom to live immoral lives, but freedom to live in righteousness.
