Background:
Jesus recognized and elevated women in a way unprecedented in the first century. This week we will focus on the stories of several of these women and the decisions they made, which shaped their actions, character, and outcomes. Each woman in this lesson was represented in the Bible because of her character traits, good or bad. Some of these women, we will want to emulate; some we will not!
Memory Verse:
“The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the LORD; he guides it wherever he pleases. People may be right in their own eyes, but the LORD examines their heart. The LORD is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices. Haughty eyes, a proud heart, and evil actions are all sin.” (Proverbs 21:1–4, NLT)
Reflection:
How can you exhibit faith like the woman who only needed to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment? In what part of your life do you need to take that step of faith?
