Background:

God chose a man named Hosea to speak His message to the people, and like other prophets, the Lord required him to perform difficult and even humiliating object lessons to complement the message. At the beginning of Hosea’s prophetic ministry, the Lord tells him to marry and announces that his chosen bride Gomer would be unfaithful to her marriage vows. Her adultery would vividly and painfully illustrate Israel’s unfaithfulness to her covenant God.

Memory Verse:

“Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words, who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God.” (Proverbs 2:16–17, NIV)

Reflection:

What sin(s) is (are) making you feel unworthy of a second chance? What’s holding you back from accepting God’s loving pursuit?
