Dear Heavenly Father:
As I begin this new study about Your servant, Joshua, please reveal the truths You want me to see and learn. Help me to have an open mind and heart to Your Word. Thank You that You are the God of promise and fulfillment. I don’t ever have to wonder if You will do what You say because Your promises are never broken. And just as You comforted Joshua, I know that I never need to be afraid or discouraged because You are with me wherever I go. Thank You, Father, for loving me and for always going before me on my own paths in life.
Father I love You and praise You, Amen
Memory Verse
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9, NASB
Background
The name of this book is Joshua, but it is really about God and the fulfillment of a promise He made hundreds of years before. The book of Joshua begins right after the death of Moses as Joshua is commissioned for his new role of leader. The nation of Israel is stationed at Acacia Grove, just east of the Jordan River across from Jericho. It was time for Joshua to transition from Moses’ assistant to God’s chosen leader of lsrael.
