Heavenly Father:

As we enter this portion of Joshua, open our eyes to Your unfolding plan. This section is hard for modern ears, we know many discount and don’t teach Joshua because it is not politically correct. Enlighten us so we can speak into others to see Your plan and have understanding in what you decreed.

In Jesus’ matchless name we pray, Amen.

Background

Joshua and the people he was leading were on top of the world. The defeat in Ai had been reversed resoundingly. They had just renewed the covenant and offered burnt offerings to the Lord. They listened to all the words of the Law. They were on a spiritual high that was about to be brought down.
