Lord:
I pray You would make me teachable this week. If I have ever been guilty of chasing the supernatural in a way that You have not instructed, please convict me and forgive me. You are all powerful, and I pray You would help me to trust only in You.
In Christ’s name I pray, Amen.
Memory Verse
“You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.” Romans 8:9, NIV
Background
There is an abundance of disinformation when it comes to anything supernatural. Some Christians have admittedly fabricated stories of angels, demons, and more, perhaps to sound more spiritual. Believers in Christ need to look no further than God’s Word when forming opinions on such serious matter.
Personal Response to God
Christians must know and believe that the Bible alone is the complete and inspired Word of God and it alone teaches truth and equips believers for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16–17). Seeking external supernatural experiences or dreams can cause confusion and deception. Personal experiences and feelings are subjective and fallible, and we are warned against adding or removing anything to or from God’s Word. Pray and ask God to help you trust fully in Him and in the Bible, and repent if you have sought answers from anything apart from His Word.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
—Proverbs 3:5, NIV
